FAQ
We’ve gathered here some Frequently Asked Questions (Or not so frequently asked)
- Why Are You Doing This?
Well we wanted to get our writing read. We wanted to finally take the plunge and do something rather than just talking about it. We also wanted to open our stories up to the fans. There is a limit to how many stories we can write. By harnessing the power of fans we can grow the Final Sanctuary Gaulon universe much faster and to everyone’s benefit. - How can you give your stories for free? What if someone steals them?
We both have full-time jobs and write in our spare time. So we aren’t overly concerned about making a living from our writing yet. We are more interested in getting as many people reading our stories and falling in love with our characters. It is hard enough to get anybody to read your stories. That’s why we decided against implementing any DRM or copy-protection. We are actually going in the totally opposite direction and releasing the stories under a creative commons license. Also, how can you steal something that is being provided for free? - I love your work. How can I help out?
There are many ways to help out the community. You can submit fan-fiction, fan-art or send us feedback. You can find more ways to help on our contribute page. - What can I do with the stories?
The stories are released under a creative commons attribution – noncommercial – share alike license. Basically that means that you are free to download the stories, send to your friends and even write your own stories using our characters and situations. There are some conditions though.First of all, all uses of our stories must be for noncommercial purposes. Please contact us if you want to use the stories for anything commercial.
Secondly, if you incorporate our characters or situations in your own stories, then you must give us attribution. You can do this by including the line “Using characters and situations created by Justin Pearson-Smith and Nghi Huynh”. Also put in a link back to the website “www.finalsanctuarygaulon.com”.
Thirdly, any fan-fiction or fan-art you do using our characters or situations must be released under a similar license. Read more at Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 2.5 Australia License.
- There is a spelling mistake! When are you going to fix it?!
Spelling mistakes can be a little distracting and we try really hard to weed them out during proofreading and editing. But we aren’t perfect. So we would appreciate your help. You can send us an email through finalsanctuarygaulon@gmail.com - I can’t wait! When is the next chapter coming out?!
We are trying to release one new chapter per month, but life might get in the way. We write the stories in our spare time, which usually means after work and on the weekends. Each chapter goes through multiple drafts and edits, so it takes a little while. We also decided to release each chapter as we go along. What this basically means is that there might be a little delay in getting the next chapter out. But this is better than the alternative of waiting a year to finish the entire story and releasing it all at once. We thought our readers would prefer the one chapter a month.
